Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Visits SMEDAN

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) office, led by our esteemed National Chairperson, Aisha K. Bura.

The visit aimed to explore avenues for collaboration in empowering women entrepreneurs across the nation.

During the engaging session, SMEDAN officials highlighted their commitment to supporting women and youth through various programs and initiatives. They emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships to enhance the capacity of women in entrepreneurship and mitigate challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Mrs. Fawale Olabimpe, Head of the Women and Youth Unit at SMEDAN, expressed readiness to collaborate with NAWOJ in implementing training programs tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs. She emphasized the need for a technical committee to devise strategies and modalities for effective implementation.

Dr. Moses Damlekun, Director of Planning at SMEDAN, assured NAWOJ of the agency’s support in promoting entrepreneurship among women. He encouraged NAWOJ to leverage SMEDAN’s facilities and resources for the benefit of women entrepreneurs.

Chibuzo Osuoha, Deputy Director of Planning and Research at SMEDAN, reiterated the agency’s role in facilitating access to funding opportunities for entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of disseminating information about SMEDAN’s initiatives to reach a wider audience.

Earlier in her remark, Hajia Wasila Ladan, General secretary Nawoj national body eulogised Smedan’s strategic potentials and commitment in providing an empowerment avenue to women across 36 state of the federation.

Ladan further appeals to philanthropic and well meaning Nigerians including non governmental organisations to seek more collaboration with host body and come in to their fold to eradicate abject poverty and hardship bedevilling the society.

NAWOJ commends SMEDAN for its dedication to empowering women in entrepreneurship and pledges to collaborate closely in advancing this noble cause. As the fourth estate of the realm, NAWOJ is committed to disseminating accurate information about SMEDAN’s programs and initiatives to empower women across Nigeria.

We look forward to a fruitful partnership with SMEDAN in empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth and development in Nigeria.
