BREAKING! Zulum Inaugurates Mega Water Project in Southern Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has inaugurated the Azare mega water works in Hawul Local Government Area, southern part of the state.

The project is one of the eight mega water works initiated by the administration of Professor Zulum across the state.

At a ceremony, the Governor said project was aimed at addressing the lingering water scarcity in Azare town and the adjoining communities.

“It is my singular honour and privilege to commission the Azare mega water works today, the 17th of March, 2024, to the glory of God and the benefit of humanity and this community” Zulum said.

Commissioner for water resources, Tijjani Alkali said with completion of the water works, incidences of water-borne diseases would be curtailed in the area.

According to him, the project has a combined 565,000-litre capacity reservoir, a 400,000 liters corrugated surface tank and another 165,000 liters corrugated overhead tank.

The Commissioner added that the facility was being powered by a 22,000kv solar power system and equipped with 10-horsepower booster pumps, along with a five-kilometer distribution reticulation network system.

“Zulum’s administration has constructed over ten basements and hybrid boreholes, 17 hand pump boreholes and rehabilitated 20 hand pumps in Hawul Local Government Area” Alkali remarked.

Radio Nigeria reports that some of the completed water works are that of Ngarannam, Moramti, Pulka and Chibok whole those of Madinatu and Shokwari in Jere and Musari in Maiduguri are still ongoing.
