The Executive Secretary kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda have commended the chief medical director of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Dr. Usman Tijjani for a job well done in uplifting the facility to a maximum standard.
Alfijir labarai reported Dr. Nagoda made this known when he paid an unscheduled midnight visit to the facility as the 2nd phase of the execution/management supervision kicks off.
He said Mmsh clinical activities have immensely improved, staff on duty where present at their duty post, Pharmacy was fully stocked as well as the facility was sparkling Clean.
Dr. Nagoda further said, the area that needs improvement is the laboratory which is expected that the services should be timely and qualitative. He adviced that there is need to increase number of drs at emergency unit of the facility. The facility was graded with a B score and called on the CMD not to relent his efforts in making the facility great again.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nagoda have expressed total dismay over the condition he meet Waziri Shehu Gidado General Hospital. He said they meet filthy premises, with only 6 staffs on duty in a facility with more than 400 staff.
He reiterated that truancy will no longer be accepted, as carrot and stick principle will be applied. Issue of lobby would not work as all enjoy shifting and call allowances. He added that no single attendant was visible, emergency over stretched and no utilization of register for free A&E and maternity items. It was also evident that mother’s where buying medication outside the facility despite our free policy and all the warnings given to the service providers.
Following this,immediate action put in place included sacking the absent casuals on duty, serving Query Letters to all staff on the duty roasters in all units and also Summoning the CMD and the matron incharge of the maternity unit to the board for further discussion s.
Dr. Nagoda added that “Let this would be the last warning to erring staff and deterrent to all.We will not relent in seeing that everyone does the right thing at the right time.”
