Media Aide to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Kano State
Our attention has been drawn to a poorly constructed and disgracefully vindictive open letter authored by one Aminu Abba Kwaru, which attempts to malign the character and integrity of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.
Ordinarily, such a letter filled with bitterness, envy, and baseless accusations does not deserve a dignified response. But for the sake of the unsuspecting public and posterity, we must set the record straight.
1. On Civil Society Leadership
It is important to remind the author that Comrade Waiya’s rise to the leadership of the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) was a result of merit, grassroots credibility, and consistent service to humanity. His tenure was not only recognized but also celebrated nationally and internationally for defending human rights, good governance, and civic inclusion.
Elections, endorsements, and consensus are all recognized processes of leadership within civil society. If Aminu Abba Kwaru is still confused about this, it only exposes his limited understanding of civil society operations. It is unfortunate that rather than celebrate success, some prefer to cling to old grudges and political bitterness.
2. On Emirate Matters and Government Communication
The Honourable Commissioner, as the mouthpiece of the Kano State Government, communicates the official stance of the administration. His statements on the Emirate issue were based on facts, legal advice, and due process. Any disagreement with his public remarks should be channeled through proper discourse, not reckless insults that reek of personal vendetta.
Kano State is governed by laws, not emotions. While the Honourable Commissioner remains committed to transparency, he will not trade accuracy for sensationalism just to please social media critics with biased narratives.
3. On Employment and Background
It is laughable that someone would question the Honourable Commissioner’s qualifications and contributions while hiding behind half-baked assumptions. Comrade Waiya holds a Higher National Diploma in Public Administration and has worked for decades as a civic leader, human rights advocate, and administrator. He was never idle, never desperate, and never imposed.
Ironically, those asking for job histories may wish to publish theirs first. Public office is a trust, and Comrade Waiya is fulfilling it with integrity, humility, and competence—unlike some self-styled commentators who only resurface during crises to chase relevance.
4. On Style of Leadership
Leadership is not about showmanship. It is about delivery, substance, and values. The Honourable Commissioner’s work speaks volumes—from driving strategic communication for the state to restoring dignity to the Ministry he leads. Resorting to petty insults about education or style only reveals the author’s intellectual bankruptcy and desperation.
5. A Word to the Misguided
We understand that some elements remain haunted by Comrade Waiya’s success, having expected his fall after leaving civil society leadership. But to their dismay, God elevated him further. This elevation came not by man’s doing, but by divine favour—something no bitterness or blackmail can reverse.
Let it be known that no matter how many anonymous or cowardly letters are authored, no amount of jealousy can dim the light of a man chosen by God and loved by his people.
Conclusion
To Aminu Abba Kwaru and those like him, we say: focus on building your own path. You do not rise by pulling others down. And no matter how loud falsehood may be, truth will always speak louder and last longer.
We call on the good people of Kano State and beyond to ignore this bitter distraction and continue to support the Honourable Commissioner in his selfless service to the state and to truth.
