Kano Emirate Tussle: Court Adjourns Suit Till July

A Kano State High Court on Monday adjourned sitting in a case filed by the State Government to restrain the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and four other emirs from parading themselves as emirs.

The presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu after listening to Counsel of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, Barr. Ibrahim Muktar and that of attorney-general of Kano State, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and the Kano State House of Assembly, Barr. Ibrahim Isah-Wangida adjourned the matter to July 2nd, 2024.

SolaceBase reports that the matter was slated for a hearing today for a motion on notice filed by the plaintiffs that has to do with an interlocutory injunction after the interim order was granted by the court. 

However, the first defendant in the suit served the plaintiffs with a counter affidavit which they were supposed to reply to.

The respondents are Alhaji Ado-Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero (Bichi), Dr Ibrahim Abubakar ll (Karaye), Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa (Rano), and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya (Gaya).

Others are the inspector-general of police (IGP), the director of the Department of Security Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Army.
