The Executive Secretary kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr Mansur Nagoda has approved the suspension and sacking of some staff of Kabo General Hospital with immediate effect after conducting an unscheduled executive supervision visit to the facility.
Alfijir labarai reported the facility which was visited by the Executive Secretary HMB, DG Kncdc Dr. Muhammad Abbas and the DG of Saka Dr. Usman Bashir express their total dissatisfaction with what they meet on ground and referred to it as an act of sabotage.
Dr Nagoda explained that 3 officers of the X-ray units where caught charging patients 12,000 for X -ray against the approved hospital price of 2,000 and no documents to show as evidence of payment leaving the facility to carry out less than 10 X-ray’s per week despite the fact that the 2 X-ray batteries are functional. He then approved the immediate dismissal of the 3 officers on grounds of excessive extortion of patients.
Also the Executive Secretary approved the suspension of the accountant, auditor and head of lab for selling the free HIV test kits given to facilities by the state government and are asked to report to the board head quarters for further disciplinary actions.
Further more, Dr Nagoda explained that the Labour ward was not in shape, no bed sheets on the beds, no compound officer, dumped equipments which where donated by a member 4years ago, as well as dumped covid19 items donated to the facility.
He lamented that, no one would be spared if caught. “this act needs to stop. This decision we took should serve as a deterrent to others. We took an oath so we will stick to that oath and sanitise the health system.
Dr Nagoda added that it is sad after the Executive governor Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf made sure he brought each and every health staff back on the conhess salary scale, they still result in exploiting innocent patients.
He then called on every officer to sit up and those that have skeleton in their cupboard should note that executive supervision is on going with full force,” once you are caught, have your self to blame”.
