The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has successfully engaged personnel of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) recently in a vital sensitization program titled āDrug Abuse Awareness and Response Strategy: Promoting a Safe and Healthy Work Environment.ā The event took place at the KAROTA headquarters and was attended by over 97 personnel, including the Managing Director (MD) and other directors.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Commander of the Kano State Strategic Command, CN AI Ahmad, aims to promote safe driving practices within the state and combat the growing issue of substance abuse among KEKE NAPEP riders.
The lecture, delivered by Musa Sani Bakori, Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN) and representative of the Commander, addressed critical issues surrounding the effects of drug abuse on personnel, strategies for handling addiction cases, and the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle to ensure effective performance in their duties.
In addition, Mr. Bakori provided insights into proper procedures for managing drug-related situations while on duty. He emphasized the necessity of fostering synergy and intelligence sharing between KAROTA and the NDLEA to enhance public safety and operational success.
Eng. Faisal Mahmud, MD of KAROTA, expressed gratitude to the NDLEA for their unwavering commitment to safety and security in the state. He highlighted the importance of continuous training programs for KAROTA personnel to ensure optimal performance and effectiveness in their roles. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both agencies to create a safer environment for all road users and to tackle the challenges posed by drug abuse in the community.
