The attention of the Kano State House of Assembly has been drawn to circulating reports suggesting that the Assembly has concluded arrangements to investigate Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u, Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government and ALGON Chairperson, over allegations of land allocation mismanagement.

The Assembly categorically states that such reports are unfounded, misleading, and entirely false.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, it was clarified that Majority Leader Hon. Lawal Hussain Dala has not granted any interviews to any media outlet regarding an investigation into the ALGON Chairman.

As a duly elected Honourable Member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Hussain Dala exercises his constitutional duty to receive and present petitions from citizens. The receipt of a petition by him does not in any way constitute an endorsement of investigation, nor does it amount to a legislative decision or pronouncement.

The reports circulating online, which originated from non-authoritative platforms, amount to a deliberate misinterpretation of standard legislative procedure, and appear to be a coordinated attempt to undermine the integrity of the Majority Leader and the Assembly as a whole.

Furthermore, the House reminds the public and media that any investigation or inquiry must follow due process, including fair hearing for all parties involved. It is unacceptable to single out any individual or propagate baseless claims without evidence or official confirmation.

The Kano State House of Assembly reserves the constitutional right to receive and act upon petitions from individuals, groups, and organizations. These procedures are anchored in transparency and guided by the rule of law.

Therefore, the Assembly demands that all media platforms and individuals responsible for disseminating this false narrative issue an unreserved apology and withdraw the fabricated story within seven (7) days. Failure to comply may result in legal action for malicious publication aimed at defaming public office holders and misleading the public.

Signed:
Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai
Chief Press Secretary
Kano State House of Assembly
